Question

Categories in RDM

I have a lot of categories in an RDM setup.
In the Web UI, is there anyway to setup “shortcuts” or bookmarks so that users can see just the tables/views/datasets in their category?

Looking for suggestions/best practices here on user navigation through many tables in the RDM Web UI please.

Hello!

Thank you for reaching out! This is a great question. Typically when we want to restrict users to only seeing their data we reccomend using the permissions that can be setup between keycloak and RDM. If we create the role RDM_HR (as an exmaple) we can go to our RDM model in ONE Desktop, navigate to security, and select “roles”.  here we can add RDM_HR and assign only the tables, views, and datasets that these users should be going through. when we do this it will restrict what the users can see within the front end of the tool. We can also limit the amount users can change permissions within the front end of the tool by revoking row permission changes when selecting the “security” entitey.

Please also take a look at the documentation here on how to create roles within keycloak.

Please let me know if this is a valid solution for your use case!

Thank you,

Ilan
