Parse Fixed width File for Profiling

Forum|alt.badge.img

Hello,

I was able to parse a fixed width file using the Ataccama One App by editing the metadata.  But when i try to parse the same file using the Ataccama Web App it doesn’t parse correctly.  Is there a way to give the metadata file to the Web App for it to parse the file correctly ?

Thanks,

Hi @rene.requenes,

The mechanism for uploading files is different between One Desktop and the One Web App. The Web App is more modern and designed to be better at automatically parsing files.

If you need to change parsing settings, I would suggest uploading your file straight to ONE Data in the Web App (depending on your license/Ataccama version).

Otherwise, you can use One Desktop to upload your file by creating a Virtual Catalogue Item

Hope this helps!

Hi, what about if I had a fixed width file in the catalog with the first row as the header (in error). The column data comes in as one string which renders it unusable for profiling and DQ. How can I get these types of files into the catalog so I can use them in my monitoring project?

I have used VCI’s before to add headers to csv files in the catalog and they work well.

Kind regards
