IS the workspace that holds SQL Catalog Item (SCI) stored on Ataccama server? Or on the same database on which SCI is created

Hi I am new to Ataccama and would like to understand the Sql Catalog Item feature provided in Ataccama web v15.4.

I am trying to create a sql catalog item on a table and unable to save it to workspace → new folder

I am curious to know what level of access is needed on Ataccama to save the SCI. Also would like to know where exactly the SCI and it’s metadata is stored.

Hi ​@mp_ataccamauser , welcome to Ataccama! SQL CIs and workspaces are stored on the Ataccama DB: whenever the SQL CI is profiled or DQ’ed or a live data preview is requested, the query will call the source to read the data, but no object will be created on the source itself.

If you can’t create a new workspace/folder for an SQL CI then you’re likely an editor on the source. The source owner/full access user should set up workspaces for you and as an editor you will be able to place new SQL CIs in them.
