Hi everyone,

I'm working on a plan in Ataccama Desktop where I want to automatically assign Data Quality (DQ) rules to attributes based on their associated tags (terms). My goal is to streamline DQ evaluation by leveraging the Business Glossary and ONE Metadata Writer.

Here’s what I’m trying to achieve:

  • Build a plan in Ataccama Desktop that:
  • Reads metadata from ONE
  • Applies DQ rules based on tags
  • Writes back the results using the ONE Metadata Writer

Has anyone implemented a similar setup?

I’d love to hear best practices, tips on configuring the Metadata Writer, or examples of how you’ve mapped terms to rules effectively.

Thanks in advance!

Philipp

Hi @Philipp K. ,
You can assign validation rules directly to business terms and these DQ rules will be suggested\applied to all the attributed where the relevant term was detected. Important thing to mention here is that this will work only for single attribute rules as the rule will be applied to to attribute that was tagged with term.

Multi-attribute rules can not be assigned to term so achieving the same thing through terms will not be possible.

Building plans to automate the process of rule mapping is definitely possible but you’ll need to have clear way to figure out how the catalog item attributes should be mapped against rule input attributes.

I hope this is useful.
